Children and young people need to be able to pay attention to a variety of different stimuli and remain calm and alert to learn. This can be challenging for many children and young people.

Attention and Concentration

Some children may have trouble sustaining their attention to a given task.  This may be due to underlying anxiety, frustration and/or sensory sensitivities.  It’s helpful to monitor their behaviour to help you to identify potential causes and solutions.

School for Fidgets Video

A film developed by Children’s Occupational Therapy at Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust about fidgeting in relation to self-regulation, engagement, participation, learning and wellbeing. The film is aimed at education staff, health professionals, families and carers and also children and young people who may relate to some of the content.
