COVID-19 (Coronavirus info)

Information and guidance for public, NHSGGC staff, and community-based services.  Hospital visiting restrictions now in place.

NHSGGC buildings and grounds are smoke free

What does this mean for you?

If you are a smoker, you are not allowed to smoke anywhere on site at any of our premises, including external areas and designated smoking areas, which have now been removed.

If you are patient who is being visited by a healthcare worker in your home and you smoke, you may be asked to refrain from smoking in the lead up to and during the visit.
If you are required to stay over in hospital, you will not be allowed to smoke at all anywhere on the hospital site, including outside areas. If you can't go without smoking and you don't want to give up, you can ask for Nicotine Replacement Therapy to help reduce cravings.
For those who want to stop smoking, hospital-based stop smoking advisors can offer support and give information on the local services. Ask staff on the ward for more information.
If you are visiting a friend or relative in hospital, you will not be allowed to smoke anywhere within the hospital building or in the grounds.
If you are a smoker who wants to give it up, then go to our Quit Your Way pages for all the information and advice you need, including where to find your local smoking cessation support groups, and pharmacies offering smokefree services.
