Breast and formula feeding

Anyone who is experiencing difficulties with breastfeeding or feeding their baby should make contact with their midwife, Health Visitor or Family Nurse.

Parent Club has useful information on COVID-19 and feeding your baby for breastfed and formula fed babies. There is also information from Unicef  and La Leche on infant feeding and breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding support

NCT Glasgow Breastfeeding Buddies are hosting virtual Peer led Breastfeeding Support groups. These are open to any mum in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Breastfeeding Network have a BfN Greater Glasgow and Clyde Families facebook page which families can join and join a virtual peer group every Tuesday and Friday at 2.00pm.

The National breastfeeding helpline offers both telephone and web chat services and are providing updates on COVID-19 and breastfeeding. Tel 0300 100 0212 open 9.30am – 9.30pm every day. British Sign Language users in Scotland can contact the helpline via contact SCOTLAND-BSL.

The Parent Club website has lots of excellent information on a range of topics for families.

Global Health Media:  A range of videos for Breastfeeding.  These can be watched in English and also selected to be watched in a range of other languages

Ready Steady Baby Your guide to pregnancy, labour and birth and early parenthood up to 8 weeks.

Unicef have a range of useful resources for parents on infant feeding and relationship building, as well as information on overcoming common breastfeeding challenges. Printable resources in other languages are available.

First Steps Nutrition Trust is an independent public health nutrition charity that provides information and resources to support eating well from pre-conception to five years.

NHSGGC Money worries for information about COVID-19 and your finances, changes to benefits claims and the support services available. Pregnant women and families who have children aged up to three years old on low income might be entitled to Best Start Food benefits.
