Covid-19 (Coronavirus)

Information and guidance for public, NHSGGC staff, and community-based services.  Hospital visiting restrictions now in place.

As an amputee it is important to keep your prosthesis in a good state of repair. Ideally you should attend WestMARC at least once a year in order to have the prosthesis checked over and have any necessary repairs carried out.

If you have problems with socket comfort this may be helped by adjusting the stump socks that you are wearing. For example, if your socket is loose, by adding more socks will provide a better fit. Or if your socket is too tight, then reducing the number of or thickness of stump sock will help. For more detailed information on Stump Socks, a leaflet Stump Socks – "How Many Should I Wear?" is available.

However in the event that your prosthesis requires attention, you should call WestMARC  on 0300 790 0129 for an appointment. Try to give us as much information about the problem as you can. Let us know if you think a part is broken or needs replaced, as this will allow us to order any parts prior to your visit. With every case we will do our best to see you as quickly as possible.
