Dumfries & Galloway

Dumfries & Galloway Health Board is one of the six boards that make up the West of Scotland Rehabilitation Consortium. The Consortium has a key role in planning and developing wheelchair services as provided by WestMARC.

People in D&G requiring assessment for and provision of wheelchair and seating equipment are assessed by locally trained staff or specialist staff from WestMARC.

Satellite clinics are held locally, further information is available by contacting WestMARC on 0300 790 0129.

A Local User Group (LUG) has been set up to discuss the needs of the wheelchair population across D&G. This group consists of NHS staff working within the areas of children’s services and rehabilitation services; wheelchair users and carers. This joint working gives a great opportunity for the wheelchair needs of the population to be identified and addressed. There are strong links between the LUG, the Consortium and WestMARC staff.
