Tennent Institute

Welcome to the Tennent Institute Website which will introduce you to the various Departments of Ophthalmology within the Greater Glasgow & Clyde area that contribute to the delivery of hospital based eye care in West Central Scotland. Twenty three Consultants contribute to the day to day running of this service and all the hospitals contribute to the ophthalmic training of junior doctors, the current group consists of 38 trainees.

Within the West of Scotland Group, Gartnavel General Hospital has the largest in patient facility and is the main post graduate teaching centre. The department includes internal specialist services of Orthoptics, Optometry, Contact Lens and Medical Illustration. The hospital is also host to multi disciplinary support from the departments of Pathology, Radiology, The Beatson Oncology Centre and an academic Electrodiagnostic Research Department.
