The PD4RU group was formed by ex-patients and their families as a way of saying thanks for the treatment and input they received during their own rehabilitation at the Physically Disabled Rehabilitation Unit (PDRU). This group has come together to fundraise and offer support to those in need of intensive multi-disciplinary rehabilitation.
Monies raised by PD4RU fundraising events are used to purchase additional equipment and provide support to patients and their families that will improve quality of life - not only during inpatient rehabilitation but throughout their rehabilitation journey at home.
Targets for fundraising are agreed upon by the group on an annual basis.
The PDRU is a purpose built unit in the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
This specialist unit uses a patient-centred goal setting approach to promote independence, well-being and improve the quality of life of patients with physical and cognitive or communication difficulties, typically resulting from a neurological condition or injury.
