Personality Changes

Stroke can sometimes change a person's personality – the way they behave or act with others.  Some people feel they fly off the handle when they were pretty laid back before they had a stroke.  Maybe you feel you don't want to tell anyone how you feel you have changed.

There are things that can be done to help however.  If the stroke has changed your personality or behaviour in negative ways, you might need special help from a psychiatrist or psychologist.  Tell your doctor or practice nurse if you feel you have an adverse personality change and they can advise you on how to address the issue.
