Paediatric & Adolescent Gynaecology

This service specifically cares for children and adolescents with gynaecological problems of all types.


The service offers age appropriate care to children and teenagers in a non-threatening environment. We also provide support for children in the transition to adult care in a supportive and caring environment.

We see young people with gynaecological conditions including:

  • Menstrual disorders
  • Vaginal Discharge
  • Pre-pubertal bleeding
  • Vulval disorders
  • Pelvic pain
  • Ovarian disorders
  • Disorders of Sex Development (These are seen within a multi-disciplinary setting within the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow, and may also involve staff from Neonatology, Endocrinology, Urology, Psychology, Genetics, Biochemistry and Pathology.)*
  • Key Staff

The service is run by Consultant Gynaecologists, with access to support from an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Consultant Psychologist, plastic surgeon and Consultant in Clinical Genetics.

How can I/my child access this service?

Referrals may be made by your GP or hospital Consultants.
