NHS GG&C Pain Service - Covid-19 Update

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Update

Many of you accessing this webpage will have already received a letter informing you that your appointment at the pain service has been cancelled. You will be aware that the NHS is facing an unprecedented crisis in terms of demand on its services. The major effect of this is that most routine outpatient and inpatient services have been suspended whilst the NHS tackles the Covid-19 crisis. At the same time, we want to reassure you that you have not been forgotten about. As soon as it is safe to do so, you will be contacted by us with details of when you will be seen. In the meantime, if you have any urgent concerns regarding your pain condition, please contact your GP (telephone them, do not attend the practice without an appointment) or telephone 111 for advice.

We are also aware that many of you will be stuck in the house, either social distancing or self-isolating, and that this will mean that it is harder to access your usual sources of support. We have therefore put together a list of resources that you can access either online or by telephone. These are given below. Good luck with everything and we hope to see you soon, when normal service has been resumed.

Update 31/07/20

Re-opening NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Pain Service for telephone and video consultations.

Over the next few weeks we will begin contacting patients on our waiting lists to offer remote consultations, either via telephone or video link.

Video consultations will be carried out using the NHS Attend Anywhere platform. To use this platform, all you need is a smartphone or tablet and an internet connection (WiFi or data). Calls can also be taken on a laptop or PC with a webcam, using the Chrome browser. More information about how to attend a video consultation can be found here.

We will send out more information to you along with your appointment letter.

This phased reopening of the Pain Service is being carried out in line with current Scottish Government guidance. More information about this guidance can be found here. See also the Information and Resources page of this website for the latest local and national pain management resources.
