AHP Therapies for Burns and Plastics

The Plastics Therapy team are highly skilled therapists, both physiotherapists and occupational therapists, based at the Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit of the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The Plastic Surgery wards are located in the Jubilee Building (located just past A&E opposite the multistory car park) and Plastic Surgery Outpatients is located in the Modular Building (front entrance is accessed from Castle Street).

We offer hand therapy for both elective and traumatic hand injuries, as well as therapy input and advice following other types of plastic surgery (such as breast reconstruction). We are part of a specialized regional service which means we provide treatment only for patients seen in the Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit. This means that you cannot self-refer to see a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist at Plastics Therapy. However, if you have had surgery or have seen a consultant at the Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit, and you need our help, we are here for you. We have Physiotherapist-Led Hand Clinics, Occupational Therapy appointments, face-to-face outpatient appointments, virtual appointments, telephone consultations, and we can also refer you for on-going hand therapy or physiotherapy input at various sites around Scotland if that is more convenient for you after an initial follow-up with us. We also have direct access to our expert team of Plastic Surgeons should a problem arise.
