Renfrewshire Neighbourhood Hubs provide practical support for households such as delivering shopping and wellbeing support. These Hubs can be accessed by calling the Council’s Local Helpline on 0300 300 0230 where you can speak to someone who will help you get the best service for your needs.

Renfrewshire Council have a dedicated COVID-19 advice and information, specific to food:

  • Shielded households  there is also a Local Assistance Helpline: 0300 300 0230 - 7 days a week from 8.45am - 4.45pm
  • Free school meals : Parents of children who qualify for a clothing grant are receiving fortnightly payment direct to their bank account of £11.25 per child per week over the summer, in place of a free school meal.

East Dunbartonshire COVID-19 Community Support provides a range of community support for those who are vulnerable but do not fall into the specific shielding category. A helpline is available to request support.

The Older People’s Advice Line (OPAL) is open 7 days a week
for those requiring support during the coronavirus pandemic, including vulnerable people in need of assistance with shopping, prescription collections and also social isolation through the befriending service.

East Dunbartonshire Food Bank

Access to the Food Bank is by referral from the Council or from another Agency and you should contact either the Council Shielding Helpline or the OPAL Helpline above.

Additional support for vulnerable residents provides details for individuals requiring extra support, or know anyone else in the community that does.

The Crisis Support Team will allow you to complete a referral online or alternatively text the word ‘help’ to 07800 002 582. A referral will be made to Food for Thought who can deliver emergency food aid parcels to those in need.

 Food for Thought will deliver emergency food aid parcels to any individual who is in need and have launched an online shop for those who can’t access the shops or online shopping. Tel 01389 734514 or email [email protected]

 West Dunbartonshire Community Foodshare is operating a delivery only service, supporting people with emergency food provision. Tues – Fri  12.30 – 3.00pm. Tel: 01389 764135

Free School meals: For children who are entitled to free school meals a packed lunch is available for collection at each of the School Hubs or can receive Farmfood vouchers card.
