Community Food Toolkit

The purpose of this toolkit is to provide guidance and signposting to information relating to food access and provision during COVID-19 restrictions. This toolkit will be useful to local organisations who are providing food support within communities and households that need support.

Information and advice in relation to COVID-19 is constantly evolving; please ensure you have the most up to date information including guidance on symptoms and self-isolation on NHS Inform and Health Protection 

Local organisations currently involved in community food work

In response to the most recent guidance:

  • All non-essential food activities involving groups should be postponed. This includes cooking programmes and social food gatherings. This will support social distancing measures and help reduce the transmission of the virus.
  • Programmes that involve food provision for vulnerable communities should continue, if possible, while taking additional precautionary measures. This includes activities such as food delivery, emergency food aid, etc., and are applicable for both food workers and recipients. Measures include:
