What is Homeworking?
The policy details two definitions of Homeworking:

1. Working at Home
Where an employee, with the approval of their line manager, wishes to work at home for part of their working time even though their contract of employment requires them to have their office based on the Board’s premises.

2. Working from Home (Homeworker) 
Employees are referred to as 'homeworkers' where they are required in their contract of employment to have their office based in their home. This type of role requires a high degree of personal concentrated work with very limited interaction and can be done at home in isolation from colleagues.

What are the benefits of Homeworking?
There are a number of reasons why homeworking and working at home
is desirable including:

• providing greater flexibility
• increasing scope to meet the Board’s commitment to equal
opportunities, (e.g. it may enable a person with disabilities to do a job they otherwise would not be able to do)
• reducing energy consumption and pollution from unnecessary car journeys 
• attracting and retaining staff 
• providing a working environment which allows work to be carried out effectively and efficiently

What is the guidance for working at home?

What should I do if I think it would be beneficial for me to work from home (ie. become a Homeworker)?
Whether it would be beneficial for you to work from home will depend on the type of role you undertake in NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. You should discuss this directly with your line manager who will consider your request

If I work from home/ am a homeworker do I need to complete any documentation?
Yes, all employees who are planning to work from home or are a homeworker must complete  the Homeworker's Assessment Form in Appendix E2 of the policy to ascertain whether the home needs to be assessed by a competent person. The purpose of any such assessment is to establish the suitability of the home for home working based on the health and safety standards noted in Appendix E2.
