Please note due to the Covid-19 pandemic much of our routine activity has had to be suspended.

Irritation from FRSM/Surgical Masks

Please do not submit a management referral form if a staff member is experiencing irritation from wearing a surgical or FRSM mask. Further Guidance on prevention and management of skin irritation can be found here

Due to Covid-19 we are having to modify the way we deliver the management referral aspect of our service.  Please be aware that  we are operating a limited management referral service and are no longer able to accept all routine management referrals.

Revised Management Referral criteria:

  • For urgent referrals for serious cases such as terminal illness or other serious illness please continue to refer as normal.
  • consideration of ill health retirement. 
  • long term absences.
  • significant underlying health issues impacting on workplace health (Please note for underlying health issues in relation to Covid-19, the NHS GG&C risk assessment process should be followed)
  • significant mental health issues e.g anxiety, depression. (Please note staff members who are anxious or stressed  regarding Covid-19 should be directed to the dedicated Covid staff support service Staff Support Line Information).

If the referral is in relation to an imminent return to work the line manager should explore the details of this with their member of staff in the first instance.  If there is any concern regarding potential residual symptoms that may impact on their ability to deliver their normal role you may wish to consider whether modified duties may be feasible.

A phased return may also enable a more successful transition back to work. The new Once for Scotland attendance policy enables a 4 week phased return on full pay NOT requiring the use of accrued leave. 

All referrals considered non-essential will not be dealt with at present.

  • Please do not use our needlestick & similar injury phone number to contact Occupational Health as we require this line to be available for staff to be able to report an injury

Self - Isolation

  • There is no requirement to inform Occupational health if you require to self isolate for 14 days if someone in your household is experiencing symptoms of Covid-19. Please ensure you have informed your manager if you require to self isolate.
  • Please note testing is not available via Occupational Health for healthcare workers
