Foundation Programme for New Managers and Supervisors

Course overview:

This programme introduces the new manager or supervisor to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde through a series of brief interactive presentations.

The programme also,

• encourages networking opportunities

• explicitly signposts additional management development provision

• encourages ongoing personal development

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the programme you will be able to,

  • describe the vision and values of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde
  • support and develop your workforce through induction and Personal Development Planning and Review
  • define your responsibilities in managing Health and Safety
  • understand your role in countering fraud in the health service
  • articulate the effect of Equality and Diversity on all aspects of the manager’s role and its impact on the organisation
  • outline your role and responsibilities in relation to Staff Governance and Information Governance
  • understand our Partnership arrangements with Trades Unions and Professional Organisations
  • access further detailed information on a range of HR polices and processes (including, Clinical Governance, Financial Governance, SSTS, Staff Health and Wellbeing, Occupational Health)

Who should attend:

Newly appointed managers and supervisors in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde who have responsibility for managing NHSGGC staff in their teams.  This includes managers employed in integrated Health and Social Care Partnerships who are not directly employed by NHSGGC.

Pre-requisites:

Attendance should be discussed with your line manager as part of your overall induction plan.

Duration: 1 Day
