Information and guidance for public, NHSGGC staff, and community-based services.  Hospital visiting restrictions now in place.

COVID-19: Staff Redeployed to work in Facilities

The following short programme of learning will help you to prepare for working within facilities.

The programme is comprised of,

Essential LearnPro modules (and follow-up requirements)

In addition to the 9 core statutory and mandatory modules you must also complete,

  • GGC: 057 HCSW Code of Conduct
  • GGC: 061 Management of Needlestick & Similar Injuries
  • GGC: Falls Prevention Training (comprised of 5 modules)
  • GGC: 221 Bedrails

A manual handling assessment will be carried out in the workplace by your supervisor.  These pages outline the Moving and Handling assessment approach within NHSGGC.

Correct use of Personal  Protective Equipment (PPE) and relevant Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulation guidance will also be provided locally via your supervisor.

A Positive Working Environment (Dignity at Work)

NHS GGC is committed to creating a work environment which is free of bullying, harassment and victimisation and where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.  This presentation highlights all policies that are in place within the organisation to ensure this happens.

Falls Awareness

We  train our employees on how they can avoid slips and trips but we also need to see how we can help reduce falls for patients and advise what do if you find a patient who has fallen. This presentation gives some guidance on how we can help to reduce this.

Health and Safety Toolbox

Toolbox Talks are an important way to communicate key Health and Safety messages to our staff – this presentation covers some key elements of H&S management within a health care setting.

 

Role and location-specific support

You will be buddied with an existing member of staff and a supervisor will train you on the practical elements of the job that you will be undertaking, i.e. domestic, catering or portering.  You will remain with the buddy until the supervisor is comfortable that the you have been fully trained and are competent in all elements of the role.  Uniform will be provided and ID badge will be updated to reflect the role you are undertaking.

Local guidance and training will also be provided in relation to,

  • specific COVID-19 information
  • isolation cleans / terminal cleans
  • patient movement

How to put on gloves

 

If you have an Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate you would be able to work within the catering services.  Please provide a copy of the certificate if appropriate.

A LearnPro certificate will be required in order to evidence that you have completed all statutory and mandatory training online.  You will also be asked to complete an additional sign off to confirm that you have viewed the presentations on HR Connect.
