In the SPT area, holders of the National Concessionary Card can also travel by rail or Subway on reduced fares.
All concessionary rail journeys have to start and end at a station inside the scheme's boundaries (please see map here). A £1.00 single, or £1.40 concessionary fare is charged for rail journeys of up to 10 miles. A half-adult single or half-adult return fare is charged for journeys over 10 miles. Return fares and through ticketing are allowed.
Card holders can use the Subway or Ferry for £1.00 for a single journey and a £1.50 for a return journey.
The full explanation of the scheme is on the Transport Scotland website at www.transport.gov.scot/concessionary-travel/60plus-and-disabled/.
