PCV - Additional Resources

We are working with a number of wards to identify the resources needed to support wards to implement Person Centred Visiting. You will find these resources here as they are developed.

NHS Education for Scotland Person Centred Visiting Guide

NHS Education for Scotland have developed a national Guide to help teams move from traditional visiting hours towards more person-centred approaches focused on partnership and the needs of the individual and their family.

The guide is available here.

Report on engagement phase

In Summer 2019, we conducted a comprehensive programme of engagement with around 500 patients, families and staff to find out their experiences of visiting, and ideas for how to make Person Centred Visiting a success.

A summary of this engagement phase is available here.

The 15 steps challenge - a toolkit to support a welcoming approach to family involvement

A mum once said, "I can tell what kind of care my daughter is going to get within 15 steps of walking onto every new ward". Most would agree that we form a first impression of a ward very quickly. This toolkit, developed by NHS England, can support staff to consider how patients, family members, and other members of staff experience their ward.

The Chaplaincy Service

Spiritual care in NHSGGC is offered by a team of professional, generic healthcare chaplains who can be available to listen to anyone. No one needs to 'be religious' to benefit from the support of healthcare chaplains.

Click here for more information about how the chaplaincy service could support patients, visitors and staff with person centred visiting.
