February 2007 - Board approves Outline Business Case to mdernise and extend unit

March 2007 - Scottish Executive expected to approve Outline Business Case

November 2007 - Refurbishment and extension work expected to begin

February 2008 - Glasgow City Council approve planning permission for development of the Southern General Maternity Hopsital

March 2008 - Full Business Case submitted to the Scottish Government for approval

April 2008 - Construction work in new extension expected to begin 

November 2009 - Majority of work completed - maternity services transfer from The Queen Mother's Hospital to the Southern General Maternity Unit and the Princess Royal Maternity
