Information and guidance for public, NHSGGC staff, and community-based services.  Hospital visiting restrictions now in place.

Initial work to upgrade the Maternity Unit  was completed in 2006.  This included  a £1.24 million investment to upgrade the front entrance area and improve the main stairway, which provides access to wards and other areas of the unit.

The new-look reception provides a fantastic area to welcome people arriving at the unit. Mums, mums-to-be, their families and friends as well as staff can also make use of the new relaxing café style area at the front of the unit as well as making the most of the revamped WRVS shop which provides teas, coffees, sandwiches and magazines.

Collectively the plans will deliver the gold standard of triple co-location of adult, children’s and maternity services on the same site. In addition, because they are basedon providing mainly new build facilities with some refurbishment, disruption to existing services will be minimal.

Alongside this major upgrade is the building of the new Children’s Hospital on the Southern Campus site, adjacent and connected to the Maternity Unit.
