*UPDATED* Hospital visiting changes, home testing kits, Vaccine info, general info and guidance for public, NHSGGC staff, and community-based services.

Hospital, shops and cafés

All our providers are required to comply with our Food Retail Policy which promotes access to healthier food and drink choices for patients, visitors and staff throughout our facilities.

We are committed to developing an ‘exemplar’ position with regards to the food and drink offered for sale within our facilities.

The policy:

  • Sets out a nutritional specification for food and drink provided for sale by NHSGGC and external retailers, cafes, vending suppliers and voluntary organisations on NHS premises to ensure healthy choices are available.
  • Communicates expectations regarding the promotion of all food and drink provided for sale on NHSGGC premises.

The policy is aligned to National Standards aiming to improve healthy eating including Healthy Living Award (HLA) and the Scottish Government Health Care Retail Standard (HRS).

Cafés, coffee shops, restaurants and sandwich bars

A range of cafés etc are provided across our hospitals, some are operated by the NHS (Aroma) and others are operated by Partner organisations. They are all required to achieve the Healthy Living Award (HLA).

By April 2016, all NHS operated cafés will comply with HLA plus award.

NHSGGC are continuing to work with our Partner organisations and at April 2016, 12 (75%) cafés have successfully achieved the HLA or HLA plus.
