Maternity and neonatal care and services matter to the health and wellbeing of Scotland’s people. The health, development, social and economic consequences of childbirth and the early weeks of life are profound. Individual families, communities and society as a whole feel the impact, both positive and negative.
On January 20th 2017, the Scottish Government released the new five year strategy for Scotland: The Best Start: A Five Year Forward Plan for Maternity and Neonatal Care. It sets out a vision for the future design and safe delivery of high quality maternity and neonatal services across the country.
Jane Grant, Chief Executive, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde was appointed to lead the implementation of the recommendations.
