We do however fully accept that there are a number of areas where we need to improve and an action plan will now be developed to implement the areas for improvement highlighted by the inspectors.
We also welcome the very positive observations by the inspectors in relation to our staff treating older patients with compassion, dignity and respect. Care, dignity and respect are fundamental principles of healthcare and we are reassured by this feedback.
Specifically we note the high degree of positive interactions between staff and patients that were reported by the inspectors.
NHSGGC received the inspector's report in April 2012 and we were pleased that the inspection team highlighted a number of areas where we are performing well in relation to the care provided to older people at the Western Infirmary.
An announced inspection to the Western Infirmary was carried out from Tuesday 21 to Thursday 23 February 2012.
