October 2016

Inverclyde Royal Hospital - I would like to give you some feedback in regards to a member of staff whom I recently encountered upon my stay in IRH. I was a patient in H South undergoing a routine operation & was sharing a ward with an elderly lady who had been given some upsetting news by a member of staff who was rather abrupt with her. Another member of staff, Karyn noticed this & took the time out of her busy day to actually sit down with the lady & discuss how she was feeling & comforted her. I was really impressed with how Karyn dealt with the situation & showed real compassion & empathy. She was also a great help to me when I returned to the ward from my operation, helping me to get settled & as comfortable as possible. I would be grateful if this feedback could be passed on as she is a real asset to the ward.

Victoria Hospital (New) - I attended for a colonoscopy on 26 October 2016 and would like to thank all those concerned for their care and kindness throughout my brief stay. I could not be more grateful for the way I was treated from start to finish.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital - Elderly mother attended for x-ray following knee replacement. In and out within 20 minutes including seeing nurse specialist. Mother delighted with outcome and speedy appointment. Staff excellent and very professional

Victoria Hospital (New) - Visiting my GP to receiving an appointment at Dermatology took all of 5 days (including weekend). Attended appointment and problem was dealt with efficiently and competently and I was kept informed and supported at all times. Thank you to the doctor and nurse who made my visit stress free. Our NHS is excellent.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - My daughter had an ultrasound appt today. Asking a young girl to have a full bladder is a huge task, understandable though. The receptionist, nurse and sonographer were all so nice and understanding of how difficult it was her not to go to the loo! Thank you so much!

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - I was in ward 56 and have to say the staff were excellent. They looked after you brilliant. Doctors were excellent as well. Also I really enjoyed the food I had there.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary- We live in Australia and were on holiday in Glasgow when my daughter presented at A&E with fever and pain. She was triaged and seen within 40 minutes, and we couldn't believe how quickly she was admitted. The staff were wonderful and were able diagnose and treat a whole body virus within one hour of admittance.

Stobhill Hospital (New) - A big thank you to all in endoscopy suite at Stobhill. I was so nervous regarding my procedure but staff nurse Gail made me feel at ease and also thanks to Mr Anderson (general surgeon) for being very gentle and patient with myself. And also a massive thanks to staff nurse Frank who held my hand all the way through, hope it’s not broken .I cannot praise this unit enough very clean and very professional WELL DONE.

Royal Hospital for Children - Was a patient for since I was 9 years old till I was 16 years old. The staff helped me so much within my stays at Yorkhill and couldn't thank them enough!!

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital - I want to congratulate staff in QEUH. On 5/8/16 at 17.30.I was seated at table in concourse with my young sons. I witnessed the most considerate and compassionate staff member. Whilst clearing and cleaning the area, he was counselling and comforting members of the public who were visibly upset. He engaged my sons in conversation and showed kindness to me. In my opinion this man has helped people in stressful, upsetting circumstances. His great service should be recognised.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital - Just spent some time in ward 49 (19/10/16) I received nothing but an excellent service , care, support and I will write also to thank staff , I am a nurse also in the acute sector and I was very impressed by the services I received

Royal Hospital for Children - Fantastic service. Everyone very cheerful, helpful and informative. Daughter was put at ease and all staff should be highly commended. Thanks, you are all stars.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - My 90 year old mother who has been very healthy all her life was admitted with a stroke some 3 months ago. Her treatment in the stroke admissions was fantastic and she was the moved to ward 57 in the Langland’s building. I would like to express our sincere appreciation for the kind, sensitive, engaging care she has been given these three months. The staff from the most senior doctors, nursing staff, therapy staff to the most junior were all helpful, kind, had a good sense of humour and played an important role in her significant recovery. It was a tough time for my mum but she also had a few good laughs amongst the challenges. I need to express our heartfelt thank to everyone who played their part in her care.....we are a very fortunate people indeed to have such service freely given and with such professionalism and good humour!!! Thank you ward 57 team!

Royal Alexandra Hospital - I recently had a colonoscopy carried out at the RAH, I would like to compliment the doctors and staff that carried out the procedure in a in a professional and confidential manner.

Victoria Hospital (New) - To be honest the whole point of my feedback is to praise certain individuals as well as team effort. I was a day surgery patient yesterday 25 October at new Victoria for ENT a meatoplasty and canaloplasty procedure. I just wanted to thank the staff that took excellent care of me from start to finish. Especially the nurse who looked after me all day , Karen , the 2 lovely anaesthetists who came back at end of day to make sure I was ok and had a lovely manner . Everything ran very efficiently and professionally and I also noticed other staff members offering to help each other. The patients all around me were also looked after very well and were also spoken to in a kind manner. I am happy and would love to give names so individuals could be praised - very good to hear positive comments as opposed to negative.

Glasgow Homoeopathic Hospital - I just want to praise the treatment I receive from Paul and the staff of Rheumatology Day Ward. I attend this ward on a monthly basis for my treatment and the staff make me very welcome and at ease. Nothing is a problem and I am even offered a light lunch soup and a sandwich. I know if I have a problem between appointments I can talk to a member of staff and help will be at hand. Thank everybody for making my treatment so much easier.

Royal Hospital for Children - I can't praise the Orthotics outpatient staff in the Children's Hospital highly enough. Our little one attends on a regular basis for mobility supports and we are always shown the most wonderful level of care and attention. There is rarely a wait of any more than a few minutes to be seen and staff from reception to clinicians are fantastic. We recently attended a lengthy appointment at WESTMARC and the high level of care and commitment was displayed here too. A massive and heartfelt thank you to all the staff for their amazing work

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I needed A&E service last night. I want to record the service from response team, nurses, Dr Smith at the Royal infirmary A&E were superb. Fast, caring, considerate. Brilliant service.

Victoria Hospital (New) - My colonography CT scan for Wed19thOct at 10.45.Unfortunately the scanner had broken down but the staff reassured me with updates & being diabetic & fasted they offered me the chance to go to QEUH to have the procedure done i.e. they had taken the initiative to phone QEUH but thankfully the scanner was rebooted and I was then quickly taken and the procedure done. All the staff were most helpful & understanding of me being a diabetic the added problems having fasted for the so all in all after an initial problematic start, the staff all were most efficient in turning the situation around. There was a student in and he too was pleasant. As I am partially deaf they had to accommodate that

Royal Alexandra Hospital - Last Tuesday I had a pacemaker procedure. From start to finish the care in the RAH from everyone was exceptional. The pre-assessment was handled with great care and the nurses in MAU before and after the procedure were exceptional. I was able to chat with the theatre staff throughout and they explained everything that was happening. A brilliant job and experience and given I have experienced great difficulty with care given to my late wife in that hospital I feel it behoves me to give the greatest praise where it is warranted. Hopefully you will be able to filter this comment back to the staff.

Stobhill Hospital (New) - My elderly father attended the Imaging Dept for a virtual colonoscopy. He unfortunately became unwell prior to his scan. I cannot praise the staff enough for their professionalism, care and kindness, not only to my father but to his family, who were with him. As a nurse myself, it was so humbling to watch your colleagues doing "their job". From the consultant radiologist, nursing staff and reception staff - well done for outstanding care. Sent with grateful thanks.

Victoria Hospital (New) - My grand-daughter Sophie was seen at out of hours on Saturday 15th October when we were visiting Glasgow for the weekend with acute onset of tonsillitis. From first dialling 111 to being seen very quickly on arrival everything ran smoothly (apart from the fact Sophie wouldn’t co-operate in opening her mouth for examination!). However the young male doctor and also the other young male doctor he called through were excellent with Sophie. They spent time with her when I'm sure they were very busy and were very pleasant to deal with. They listened to the fact that Sophie was not good taking medicine and offered an alternative which would be more acceptable to her. I just wanted to acknowledge their respectfulness towards us. We got the prescription started right away and by the next day things were so much better. Thank you again and I would hope that these thanks could be passed on to those concerned

Princess Royal Maternity - I would like to thank Lisa for her time and patience today. I was in for a routine appointment with the midwife which included blood tests and due to my fear of needles got myself worked up into quite a state. Lisa was extremely patient and helped me through the process.

Stobhill Hospital (New) - I have been attending Stobhill both old and new for the past 12 years and would like to take this opportunity thank the Rheumatology team for the care, compassion and commitment they have shown towards myself. The standard they have maintained over this period has been 110%.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - I would like to praise the staff that took care me when I came for my pre-operation assessment. They could not have been more friendly informative and caring.

Victoria Hospital (New) - I just wanted to extend my thanks to the Staff (particularly the ward staff) at the New Victoria for making my experience in surgery as relaxed and comfortable as possible, I know it must be a challenging job and that praise may be few and far between.

Victoria Hospital (New) - My mum had an appointment today (19/10) at 10.40. We arrived at 10.30 and were greeted by very pleasant staff. We took a seat in the waiting area and after just 3 minutes, mum was called. Twenty minutes later mum reappeared and had, had a CCG and a blood test and was told that she would have results within 2 hours. We went for a bite to eat and got home at 12.20 just as the phone rang. Thankfully we got good news. What a brilliant service in and out of the hospital in 30 minutes and results 80 minutes later! Well done New Victoria. 5 star service!!

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Had a 3 night stay and have to compliment all staff from porters to surgeons for their care of me in my time of need. Nursing staff in the ward were absolutely fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for them, they were very caring and compassionate. Keep up the good work

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Hi, My daughter was brought into A&E on Saturday morning suffering from smoke inhalation due to a fire in her block of flats. Can I strongly commend the treatment she received from the nurses and doctors at A&E? They were not only very professional but extremely helpful and friendly. They helped enormously in what was a difficult situation and I would appreciate if you could pass on our thanks to all involved. They are an absolute credit to the profession. Thanks

Glasgow South - Incredibly quick response to my email asking for an appointment, with an appointment provided within the hour and for next week! Amazing service-best I've had in a very long time so thank you very much!

Gartnavel General - People are too quick to complain and not enough praise given when deserved. I came in for a procedure on Saturday morning and can honestly say I was treated so well, staff were incredibly nice and cheery in the Endoscopy dept and made me feel so at ease - not the nicest thing to be going in for! Please pass this on to the hospital manager because the staff definitely deserve a pat on the back in this department and I hope they get told this!!

Royal Hospital for Children - We were discharged yesterday (Saturday 15th October) after my son was admitted for a scheduled Tonsillectomy and Adenoid Removal. The facilities at the hospital were very impressive. Firstly the play facilities were brilliant. The toys available were all in great working order and there was such a wide choice of different play options that my son was well entertained. It would be worthwhile communicating this to parents as before he was admitted I wasn't sure what the facilities were and I brought his own toys and books which added to the weight I had to carry with me. I would advise telling parents to bring a couple of small teddies for bedtime comfort as that is all that is required. The play staff were friendly and helpful. The number of volunteers in the play areas is testament to the success of the hospital. The ward facilities were spotless and comfortable. I was disappointed to read some negative comments on the board as I left as in my opinion it's a wonderful facility and I feel very lucky to have access to such modern facilities. It was disappointing to have a bed with a broken TV however it's my understanding that there is issues with this beyond your control. Finally I would like to commend the staff. I have never experienced such wonderful medical staff. I was a patient myself a couple of weeks ago I the QEU Hospital and was treated with some poor mannered staff which made me very nervous about my sons admission. I was delighted to meet such lovely, professional, kind and understanding nurses. I'd like to thank Lucy on ward 1A and Karen on ward 2C for their excellent care and help. When my son was rushed back to Theatre with a blood clot the nurses were supportive and everyone helped explain the situation to me thoroughly. Our original surgeon Dina was very kind and Dr Clements made me smile with his dry humour. All are to be commended for their work, professionalism, sense of calm and caring attitude. All in all it was a very stressful time made easy with the care and facilities available. Thanks to everyone.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - Recently attended an outpatients clinic for a Urology scan I was seen at my appointment time had a scan and examined by the consultant all within three quarters of an hour couldn't have received better or more efficient service anywhere in the world

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - On the 26th of August, my mother in law was admitted for major surgery & when we came to visit at night we had a prolonged wait, with ward staff unable to tell us any information as she was still in recovery. After awaiting approx. an hour & a half, I spoke with receptionist on front desk (Karen) who contacted the on-duty clinical co-ordinator (Denise). Both ladies were extremely helpful & caring in their manner & did their utmost to find out what was happening for us - it transpired that my mother in law's condition was unstable & the staff presumably due to being busy looking after her, had not yet contacted us. I wonder if it could be feedback to Karen's manager (Linden) how helpful she was & likewise with Denise's line manager (Alison). I think it is important that the friendly, approachable, helpful manner of both ladies is recognised as they helped to put us at ease during a very worrying time.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - I would just like to thank all the staff in A&E at Glasgow Royal Infirmary for their kindness towards my father who has dementia and was admitted from Craigbank Nursing home on Thursday 13th October for a short time with catheter problems. Staff from nurses to Doctor to Consultant were all so caring and kind. Thank you.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary - My brother was recently a patient on Ward 50 at Glasgow Royal. He sadly died two days ago. I just wanted to leave feedback on the staff (particularly Rob) that were utterly professional, compassionate, informed and above all kind. We could not have been in better hands at what was a very difficult time. I and my sister are grateful to all of the staff on the ward - for treating our brother, ensuring he was not suffering. Although he had Downs and could not communicate clearly/at all, they talked to him all the time letting him know what they were going to do. And they talked with us too. Rob, Dougie and all of you on Ward 50 in the last week, a heartfelt thank you. Richard & Fiona

Victoria Hospital (New) - My mother came to Ward 1 in the New Victoria for rehabilitation after a couple of weeks in the Queen Elizabeth. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with terminal cancer which had spread to her brain and she lasted only 2 more weeks. The care she received and the support we were given was absolutely wonderful. The doctors were honest and understanding when they delivered the diagnosis and the charge nurse and her staff were incredible. At such a difficult time to know that our mum was being looked after so carefully and respectfully was such a relief. The nursing staff were so caring and supportive to us all, and at times there were a lot of us! I cannot express properly how much we appreciate that mum's final days were so peaceful.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - Staff were always busy but very efficient, excellent care during my stay and surgery. Theatre staff, Surgeon and Nursing staff were absolutely brilliant and I can't thank them all enough for their care and attention, very much appreciated.

Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre - I have just finished my treatment at the Beatson. Every member of staff were informative, friendly and made me feel secure and comfortable. What could have been a very difficult experience was made very easy. Every member of staff should be proud of their achievement

Inverclyde Royal Hospital - I attended IRH A&E on Saturday 8th October. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. I waited less than 10 minutes before I was seen. The Nurse Practitioner was absolutely charming and an exemplar of the compassionate professional. He took time to explain the procedure to me and put me entirely at my ease. I was discharged in less than 40 minutes. I cannot express my thanks to him enough. I have always supported the NHS and it does my heart good to know that first class people like this are there to help. Many thanks.

Victoria Hospital (New) - hello I was recently at an appointment in clinic N second floor in ambulatory care, I was extremely nervous of what will be happening during my operation, but after speaking to the nurse Ruth she gave me a great in depth talk of what the procedure would and put my head to rest, as I’ve lost sleep over this operation. I understand that hospital staff is stretched to the limits but if every nurse/doctor had the compassion and sense of humour as Mrs Matheson the world would be a better place thanks again and keep up the good work.

Victoria Hospital (New) - A big thank you to the staff of the day surgery unit for the care and reassurance during my cataract surgery

Inverclyde Royal Hospital - I rushed my daughter, Rebecca (age 26), into A&E on Wed 5/10. The nursing staff were tremendous, dealing with her quickly and acting on what they found. Rebecca was in a bad state and need the prompt attention she received. The staff in J North, where she was eventually transferred were very attentive and helpful. Rebecca got home Thursday. My sincere thanks to your staff - nurses and doctors - for their care and professionalism.

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - I'd just like to thank the paramedics who came to my parent’s house and the doctors and nurses in A&E who looked after my dad when he had an angina attack. Far too often Public servants are not recognised for the high standard of care that they give and I thought that I'd take this opportunity to thank you.

Royal Alexandra Hospital - Hi I had an accident when on holiday and had to fly home early as I had broken my leg. We called NHS 24 to see what we should do next, they were very helpful but where it was hard for us was the fact we have stairs outside up to our house and I had got up them but the pain and fear of doing this was terrible, and they explained there is no transport available to us. So we tried and I nearly fell at the first step so we stopped and called back they agreed to send one out but did not know how long that would take as I was so scared to try and in pain the wait was worth it. When your guys came who were so nice and helpful they even said what a set of stairs. I understand cut back and emergency first. But some people do just need that bit more help. When in the A&E everyone was so helpful and professional they are all a credit to the NHS. I had to stay in 3 days and had an op to put pins and plates in. I am due back to see how it has all went this week again I will need help as I am not meant to put any weight on it and I do have crutches and your team did help with them, but have terrible balance and have no upper body strength so I am very worried again about getting to you for the appointment. They may have forgot the fact that not everyone is able to just pop into a car or taxi to get to you. Just have think what can be done for the people who are not a emergency due to life or death but really need your help. Thank Them

Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow - What a fantastic experience we received today at the new children's A&E service. I know it's probably repeated over and over again but we are just so lucky to have the NHS. Absolutely every member of staff that we met today was so lovely, and really made us feel at ease. My daughter was seen to very quickly to ensure she was given the proper pain medication before her wait to be seen and assessed. The children's waiting area was brilliant. Loads for them to do, I had my other younger daughter with us, so waiting around was a completely stress free experience. And as for waiting, we were not waiting long at all (although with the comfy seating and children's activities, we absolutely wouldn't have minded waiting if we needed to). From the receptionist, to nurse practitioner who assessed my daughter, to the radiographer at X-ray, to the lovely and very funny nurses who applied her cast, all of them really made us feel totally at ease and they all really genuinely cared. Totally amazing! All we can say is THANK YOU!!!
