I recently met with some of our staff who have reached the astonishing milestone of 50 years’ service to the NHS.
I want to personally say again how very much I appreciate the exceptional commitment they have demonstrated. This length of service is testament to their dedication, resilience and commitment to the teams around them.
I continue to be impressed on a daily basis by the professionalism, kindness and respect I see our staff demonstrate with our patients every day.
Tonight is the chance to recognise our staff from across NHSGGC and celebrate your achievements in style.
This year, the Chairman’s Awards reflect the key aims of the organisation, renaming our categories to: Better Care, Better Health, Better Value and Better Workplace.
Our popular Nursing and Volunteer categories remain and for the second year we will be presenting the Global Citizenship award.
The judges again this year had the difficult task of short listing from the record number of excellent nominations received in these categories.
For the first time in the ten years of the Chairman’s Awards tonight will see two teams recognised with an award for excellence for their expertise and dedication in responding to unprecedented challenging situations.
We will also this year present the prestigious William Cullen Prize for excellence in medical teaching and medical service innovation.
I hope you all enjoy the night as each and every one of you deserve to be congratulated for the care and services you provide every day to our local communities.
