More Information

Dumbarton Joint Hospital is home to the Cairnmhor Resource Centre, the base for the community mental health team for older people in the Dumbarton, Alexandria and Helensburgh area, including those with dementia.

It accommodates a range of staff, including medical, nursing, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and support workers. Other local agencies including Alzheimer Scotland and local authority services work along side staff at the centre.

Cairnmhor offers a multi-disciplinary memory clinic and out-patient clinics and will also involve service users and carers in the delivery of services by setting up a range of groups and activities.

A duty service is being provided for people who require same day assessments, where people will be seen either in their own homes or in a clinic.

It is supported by the Crisis Team and Out of Hours Service, enabling 24 hour access to services seven days a week.

In addition the centre also houses community addiction services.

A Healthcare Chaplain is available to patients, visitors and staff at Dumbarton Joint Hospital and can be contacted on 0141 314 7365.

The Chaplaincy Service delivers spiritual and religious care to all people.  Spiritual care addresses the fundamental human need to have a sense of peace, security and hope particularly in the context of injury, illness or loss.  Healthcare Chaplains do this by being attentive to the patient’s story, looking for sources of strength and resilience, valuing the person and what is most important to them. Religious care can be a crucial aspect of this.  Healthcare Chaplains work with other NHS staff to ensure that these needs are met and, where appropriate, in partnership with local faith and belief groups.

Please visit our web page for more information on the Spiritual Care and Healthcare Chaplaincy Service.

If you have a general  enquiry you can email us on [email protected] and our patient leaflet can be accessed here NHSGGC Spiritual Care Team Patient Leaflet 2019.

An NHS Healthcare Chaplain is always on-call and ward staff can arrange for them to be paged.  A Roman Catholic Priest is also available at all times.
