Background
The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre is the lead centre for the delivery of non-surgical cancer care for the West of Scotland.
It serves a population of 2.8m, and has clinical links with 16 hospitals in five surrounding Health Board areas.
The Beatson is Scotland’s largest cancer centre and the second-largest in the UK. As a result, the workload is varied - each year, the Beatson team sees more than 8,000 new patients, and more than 20,000 courses of chemotherapy and over 6,500 courses of radiotherapy are administered.
Waiting times for radical treatment are among the lowest in the UK.
An internationally renowned teaching centre, the Beatson WoSCC incorporates the academic units of Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Translational Research and Palliative Care.

The Healthcare Chaplain for The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre can be contacted on 0141 211 3026.
The Chaplain’s office is in Gartnavel General Hospital, adjacent to the Beatson.
The Sanctuary, on the 1st Floor of the Beatson, near the main entrance, is open at all times and is available to patients, visitors and staff as a place of quiet reflection and prayer. Prayer mats and books of the major faiths are available alongside other resources.
The Chaplaincy Service delivers spiritual and religious care to all people. Spiritual care addresses the fundamental human need to have a sense of peace, security and hope particularly in the context of injury, illness or loss. Healthcare Chaplains do this by being attentive to the patient’s story, looking for sources of strength and resilience, valuing the person and what is most important to them. Religious care can be a crucial aspect of this. Healthcare Chaplains work with other NHS staff to ensure that these needs are met and, where appropriate, in partnership with local faith and belief groups.
Please visit our web page for more information on the Spiritual Care and Healthcare Chaplaincy Service.
If you have a general enquiry you can email us on [email protected] and our patient leaflet can be accessed here NHSGGC Spiritual Care Team Patient Leaflet 2019.
An NHS Healthcare Chaplain is always on-call and ward staff can arrange for them to be paged. A Roman Catholic Priest is also available at all times.
