More Information

The Community Treatment Centre for Brain Injury is a community based service designed for adults aged 16 years and over who have experienced a brain injury (traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid haemorrhage, anoxic/hypoxic brain damage, encephdits/meningitis).

Following a brain injury people can experience changes in their physical, cognitive, and emotional behaviour. This will sometimes prevent them from returning to their previous lifestyle. The Community Treatment Centre for Brain Injury provides client-centred interventions to reduce the disability and handicap associated with the consequences of brain injury. Clients referred to the centre will have difficulties that are primarily related to cognitive, behavioural and psychological functioning rather than physical impairment. The role of the centre is to assist people who have experienced brain injury to become independent at home and in their community. This includes assisting people to establish or re-establish relationships with family and friends and to engage in meaningful and productive activity in home, education or work settings. Carers and families are encouraged to take an active role in the client’s rehabilitation programme.

We are also avalible on the NHS Staff Intranet for Internal users only: http://staffnet/Acute/Rehab+Assessment/Acquired+Brain+Injury/default.htm
