This video tells you about the new Children's Hospital in Glasgow and some of its interactive design features. If you have an appointment at the hospital and have never been before this is worth watching.
When a child needs to have a procedure in hospital this can be a very stressful and scary time for them. As a parent you worry about what is wrong with your child and if your child is going to be ok. Understanding what hospital procedures do and explaining them to your child is not easy. Your child might feel anxious when the nurse needs to use a needle to take a blood sample. You might worry when your child is asked to go into an MRI machine or have a general anaesthetic. The WWCIH charity makes video clips suitable for children to help children and parents prepare for hospital and answer some of their questions starting with What? and Why?
Hospital can be a stressful place, but it's important to remember that you're never alone. The family support and information team can help with the following:
The Family Support and Information Service office is based on the ground floor of the RHC round the corner from Radio Lollipop. The office is open between 10am and 4pm every weekday and 10 to 4pm every alternative Saturday.
If your child has to spend time in hospital it can be hard to juggle all the pressures you are under. If one of those pressures is worrying about money you can access support through our Money Advice Service. The service offers free, confidential advice and is based within the Family Support Service on the ground floor of the Children's Hospital, around the corner from Radio Lollipop.
