The NHS in Greater Glasgow and Clyde - and in Scotland as a whole - is going through a series of far-reaching changes. We are adapting to the realities of 21st Century healthcare and patients’ needs.
Some of these changes mean substantial reconfiguration of services and the way we do things.
An important part of how we plan for the future is how we inform, engage and consult with patients and the public to transform hospitals and services.
Since February 2010, we are required to follow Scottish Government Health Department guidance on informing, engaging and consulting people in developing health and community care services (CEL 4 (2010)). There is a detailed step by step process to inform and involve patients and the public in proposals to change services. This process of involvement is required before a NHS Board can decide to begin consultation on a proposed service change.
Use the navigation menu to find out more about this and to view the Scottish government guidance, latest major service change proposals where we are informing and engaging the public, current consultations or browse the archive of previous consultations.
