Remote Desktop Guide

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde SafeHaven Remote Desktop Guide

Connecting to the SafeHaven remote desktop environment displays a desktop layout similar to Microsoft Windows 8. This version of the Window’s desktop (Screen 1) does not have a start menu button in the bottom left hand corner like previous versions.  To access further options (Screen 2) press the Windows key (pictured below) on your keyboard.

The Windows Key may appear as either of these icons on your keyboard:

 Shortcuts to available applications are displayed on the desktop

Access to the study data is via a shared drive and this can be accessed by a shortcut on your desktop or by opening the file explorer application.

The file explorer application can be opened by pressing the Windows key and clicking on the icon displayed.

The Study Data drive is labeled Z and is read only.  This is a shared copy of the study data that is available to all users for that project.  A second drive is listed which is a User Data drive which is labelled U and is visible to only you and can be used to store any files that you create or update.

When your session is finished you can log off the remote session by pressing the Windows key and clicking on your user name in the top right hand corner of the screen and clicking Sign out.
