The Volunteer Service team work in partnership with our colleagues in a range of health care settings to identify ways in which volunteers can be involved in complementing our service. We support volunteers through the recruitment process and identify appropriate roles that the volunteers can be engaged in.
Within your role in NHSGGC you will no doubt meet a range of volunteers supporting us across our sites. We are very proud of our volunteers who give their time so selflessly to provide support to our patients, staff and visitors.
Some of the volunteers you meet will be working on behalf of our 3rd sector partners, such as the Glasgow Hospital Children’s Charity or the Beatson Cancer Charity, but many of them will be our own dedicated team of NHSGGC volunteers. They are easily identifiable by their red polo shirts and their friendly smiles!
Our volunteers do a tremendous job by complementing the roles of our paid professionally trained staff. NHSGGC’s Volunteering Policy clearly states that volunteers exist to complement the work of our paid employees; and will not substitute paid employment.
If you do meet a volunteer supporting your area of work, please help us by making them feel welcome and putting them at their ease, it will make all the difference to their experience and they are keen to assist you and make a difference!
