 Supporting NHS skills and simulation training: ensuring national standards

What is the  Healthcare Skills and Simulation Collaborative? 

The Healthcare Skills and Simulation Collaborative (HSSC)  supports skills, education and training for all health and social care practitioners in West of Scotland.

Following the decommissioning of the NHS Louisa Jordan, the Lead of the Hub,

Professor Jean Ker, is handing over the baton to a newly formed collaboration of

partners. Working together the new Healthcare Skills and Simulation Collaborative

aims to provide similar clinical skills and immersive sim pods across various venues


  • Glasgow Royal Infirmary,
  • Royal Alexandra Hospital,
  • Vale of Leven Hospital,
  • Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel,
  • Ken Corsair Medical Education facility - NHS Lanarkshire - Kirklands Hospital 
  • Clinical Skills Managed Education Network Mobile Skills Unit (CSMEN) 


Who is it for? 

The facility can be accessed by education leads providing or requiring education or training using simulation, in conjunction with territorial board, at any stage of their careers working in health or social care in Scotland. 

What does it offer? 

The facility is versatile and adaptable to enable the safe rehearsal of skills using the facilities over a number of different sites:
