Patient Toolkit

The Brownlee HIV Patient Forum felt strongly that something should be done to support other patients. They told us that stigma is usually based on fear, ignorance and prejudice. Often described as ‘the look’ a ‘gut feeling’ or by ‘recognising the anxiety’ in the other person, where they suggest sometimes challenging this directly is the best approach.

To help with this they have created a booklet "To give fellow patients the confidence to speak out and the knowledge to question HIV stigma and discrimination in healthcare."

It uses examples and scenarios and suggests ways that these situations might be resolved.
