Adult Inpatient & Small Wards Tools (Resources)

The Adult Inpatient Tool must run for two weeks on an annual basis, and the following resources can be used to simplify the process.

  1. Step by Step - This guide explains on a step by step basis what you need to do before, during, and after the tool run.
  2. Recording Tool - Used to calculate daily occupancy and dependency within a range of adult inpatient areas (does not apply to outpatients, ITU, CCU)
  3. Dependency Totals Summary sheet - Used to summarise the AIT Recording Tool over the full 2 weeks of your tool run
  4. Professional Judgement Template - Tool for recording daily Professional Judgement for staffing to manage real-time requirements
  5. Professional Judgement Guidance - Advice on providing a useful and informative comment when completing the Professional Judgement Tool.
  6. Additional workload pressures - Use if required to document extra duties, such as escorting a patient
