CHA2DS2-VASc Score for Atrial Fibrillation Stroke Risk

• Use the CHA2DS2-VASc risk scoring tool from now on when assessing the stroke risk of patients with AF

• Use the HAS-BLED risk scoring tool to inform their discussions with patients about the risk and benefits of anticoagulation in AF

• Stop offering aspirin monotherapy solely for stroke prevention to people with atrial fibrillation

• Do not offer stroke prevention therapy to people aged under 65 years with atrial fibrillation and no risk factors other than their sex (that is, very low risk of stroke equating to a CHA2DS2-VASc score of 0 for men or 1 for women)
