Audrey Thompson became a member of the NHS Board on 1st July 2017.
Audrey is Lead Pharmacist for Controlled Drugs Governance. One of the first people in this role across Scotland, early work focused on setting up the processes for inspection of healthcare systems within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to ensure the safer management of controlled drugs in line with the recommendations of the Shipman Inquiry. Audrey has extensive experience within the Central Prescribing Team which has responsibility for the development, implementation and monitoring of high quality, safe, cost effective, evidence based prescribing policies in primary care. Audrey was elected chair of the Area Pharmaceutical Committee in 2015 and re-appointed in 2017.
