All round to the Vale for a coffee

Wednesday, October 2, 2019

The Vale of Leven was the place to be on Friday, as staff took part in the ‘World Biggest Coffee Morning’ to raise awareness and money for MacMillan’s cancer support services.

Hospital staff hosted a coffee morning/afternoon, with live entertainment. Information about the event was displayed around the hospital to encourage both patients and relatives/carers to come and join in the fun and if possible, give a donation to MacMillan.

The hospital also welcomed back singing duo Celtic Cara of Fire-Cloud, a Glasgow-based charity organisation.  They provided some live entertainment as patients, staff and relatives enjoyed tea, coffee and cakes.

Helen Shearer, MacMillan Services and Volunteering Coordinator, supported the event and was able to provide information leaflets to highlight MacMillan services.

The Clinical Service Manager & Lead Nurse Margaret O’Rourke said: “It was a great success. Our main aim was to raise awareness of the wonderful McMillian resources available locally. The staff also raised a total of £100 for the charity.”
