A group of students from New College Lanarkshire, Motherwell campus, have supplied toiletries to patients admitted to hospital without the bare essentials.
The students, who are doing a Citizenship Module as part of their National 5 Health and Social Care Course, held various fundraising events including cake stalls and raffles in the college to provide toiletry bags to homeless people admitted to hospital without the necessary essentials.
Margaret Montgomery, Acute Homeless Liaison Co-ordinator is based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. She went along to meet the students at New College Lanarkshire and receive the much needed toiletry bags for distribution.
She said: “Providing these toiletry bags to patients coming into hospital who have been homeless has been an immense help and we are extremely grateful to the students for the fundraising they did to provide these.
“The bags contained a range of items for both men and women, including sanitary items for females who often don’t have access to these products.
“Patients really appreciate being provided with these bags giving them essential items they have not brought into hospital with them.”
