Pharmacy Application

Wednesday, December 14, 2016

Dears Pharmacy intends to submit an application to NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (NHS GG&C) to open a new pharmacy at 37 Church Street, Port Glasgow PA14 5EH.

NHS GG&C and Dears Pharmacy will shortly undertake a joint consultation exercise, under terms of Regulation, to seek the views of local people who may be affected by this, or who may use the proposed pharmacy, to determine whether residents feel they already have adequate access to pharmacy services in the area and to gauge support for the application.

Dears Pharmacy is an established pharmacy chain predominantly based in Scotland. The company prides itself in delivering high levels of pharmaceutical care to communities where this care can lead to real gains in quality of life and amenity for residents in the communities where it operates.  The company is owned by Barrie Dear who established the chain in the early 1990’s and Mahyar Nickkho-Amiry in the post of General Manager with a wealth of experience in senior manager roles held with the major pharmacy multiples and a pharmacist by qualification. Dears Pharmacy works in close partnership with GP surgeries as well as other healthcare professionals and social care teams to provide the highest level of care to all patients at all times.

NHS GG&C are unable to offer any further comment during the pre-application stage of this case.

The consultation process will last for 90 working days starting on 12 December 2016 and closing on 25 April 2017 No responses can be accepted after 5pm on the closing date.

All views submitted will be incorporated into a Consultation Analysis Report which will be taken into account by the NHS GG&C Pharmacy Practices Committee which decides the outcome of an application.

A paper copy of the survey can also be requested by telephoning 0141 232 1729 or writing to the:
