Pharmacy Application

Wednesday, November 2, 2016

Ms Humyra Ahmed and Mr Ahmed Manzoor intend to submit an application to NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde (NHS GG&C) to open a new pharmacy at 5/7 Kennedy Path, Townhead, Glasgow, G4 0PP.

NHSGG&C and Ms Ahmed & Mr Manzoor will shortly undertake a Joint Consultation exercise, under terms of Regulation, to seek the views of local people who may be affected by this, or who may use the proposed pharmacy, to determine whether residents feel they already have adequate access to pharmacy services in the area and to gauge support for the application.

Ms Ahmed and Mr Manzoor intend to apply for a new pharmacy contract in Townhead. Mr Manzoor has been the owner of the local Shopsmart in the heart of the proposed neighbourhood for over 15 years and so knows the local community very well. Ms Ahmed is a locum pharmacist who works in various pharmacies across the central belt. They both share a vision to help improve the health outcomes of the community and to engage their involvement regarding health matters. They hope to reduce the overwhelming pressure faced by GPs and run clinics alongside numerous health care professionals to provide the best outcomes/care for the local residents. The number of elderly residents and those facing mobility issues is increasing. Furthermore, the student population is increasing dramatically given the current housing developments.

NHS GG&C are unable to offer any further comment during the pre-application stage of this case.

The consultation process will last for 90 working days starting on 1st November 2016 and closing on 13th March 2017. No responses can be accepted after 5pm on the closing date.

All views submitted will be incorporated into a Consultation Analysis Report (CAR) which will be taken into account by the NHS GG&C Pharmacy Practices Committee (PPC) which decides the outcome of an application.
