Engagement opens on proposed changes to rehabilitation services in North East Glasgow

Thursday, September 8, 2016

Patients, families and interested groups are being encouraged to take part in the engagement process shaping the future of rehabilitation services in North East Glasgow.

The proposal would see the introduction of new models of rehabilitation care for older people leading to the transfer of services from Lightburn Hospital to acute sites at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Stobhill as well as local care homes and community facilities in the east end of Glasgow.

To shape the board’s proposals through the views of patients and the public the board is running a substantial engagement programme with people across the area which will run from now until the beginning of December.

This engagement process programme is being shaped by a stakeholder reference group to include representatives from north and east Glasgow older peoples’ groups, carers’ associations and patient groups.

The stakeholder reference group will oversee the development of a range of communications resources, delivered with the Health and Social Care Partnership, to help advise on the best means of engaging with those affected and local communities.

Catriona Renfrew, director of Planning and Policy, NHSGGC, said: “The engagement process is now open and I would encourage patients, carers and the public to share their views on what the board is proposing.

“Information on the proposal and ways in which people can engage with us can be viewed at or people can send us their views by emailing [email protected].”

At the end of this period of engagement the board will make a decision on whether to move to a period of full public consultation.
