The countdown has begun to the opening of the new £15m state-of-the-art Eastwood Health and Care Centre, which will open its doors on August 8th 2016.

The new Centre, on Drumby Crescent, will offer the Eastwood community access to a wide range of health and social care services under one roof for the first time.

It will soon house five GP practices and community health and care services including clinics, podiatry, physiotherapy, children's services, adult mental health services, speech therapy, district nursing, health visiting and social work.

The GP practices moving into the Centre are:

  • Clarkston Medical Centre (Drs Morrice, Masson and Geddes & Drs Boardman, King and Boyd)
  • Maclean Medical Practice
  • Giffnock Medical Centre (which is being renamed Eastwoodmains Practice)
  • Elmwood Medical Centre

An essential information guide will be issued to all households in mid-July in the Eastwood area to let them know how to access and contact the new centre.

East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) Chief Officer, Julie Murray, said: “The final preparations are being made for the move to the new health centre. It’s a big job to transfer all the individual practices but I am sure the people of Eastwood will be delighted with their new centre when it opens.

“If anyone has any questions about the move they should contact their own GP in the first instance.”

East Renfrewshire Councillor and Vice-Chair of the East Renfrewshire Integrated Joint Board, Alan Lafferty, said: “The new centre is a magnificent facility which will offer Eastwood residents seamless health and social care services of the highest quality under one roof in brand new fit-for-purpose accommodation.”

The project is being delivered by East Renfrewshire HSCP, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and East Renfrewshire Council in partnership with hub West Scotland and the Scottish Futures Trust.

The total cost for the building is £14.9m with £9.2m provided by NHSGGC and £5.7m provided by East Renfrewshire Council.
