Patients at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill got a surprise this afternoon when three Team Scotland gold medal winners dropped into visit them.

Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Judo champions Chris Sherrington and sisters Kimberly and Louise Renicks thrilled the young patients as they toured the hospital with their medals.

Kevin Hill, Director of Women and Children’s Services, said: “We were absolutely delighted and proud to welcome Kimberly, Louise and Christopher to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children this afternoon. They are truly an inspiration to all of our young patients who were so excited to meet some of Scotland’s medal winning athletes.

“While many of our young patients are unable to take part in a lot of sport due to their illnesses they have certainly enjoyed all the Games-related activities which we have organised at the hospital and I know many of these youngsters now have a real interest in athletics and sport.”
