NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s New South Glasgow Hospital Project has won a National Government Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Award.

The GO Awards are specifically designed to recognise and reward excellence and achievement in public sector procurement.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Currie and Brown, and Brookfield Multiplex won Best Supplier Engagement Initiative of the Year for the £842 million South Glasgow Hospitals development including a new integrated children and adult hospital on the site as well as a brand new £90 million laboratory.

NHSGGC South Glasgow hospitals project director Alan Seabourne said:  “We are delighted that GO has recognised all the work we are doing to engage with not only our suppliers and local businesses in the area but also our local community work in schools and our support of local community projects.

“The new South Glasgow project is bringing work to this area not only through the build project but will be a major employer here once the hospitals are complete.”

John Ballantyne of Brookfield Multiplex added:  “The biggest benefit in winning the award is that we will leave behind a legacy after the hospital is completed for a supplier base in the west coast of Scotland, especially in Govan and the surrounding areas, providing jobs and new starts to individuals who had not previously worked in the construction industry and who have not worked on a large scale project such as the New South Glasgow Hospital for Greater Glasgow and Clyde.”
