Employers from across Greater Glasgow and Clyde are being invited to a special event run by NHS staff to let them know what support is available to help them inspire their staff to give up smoking.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) smoking cessation and Health at Work teams will be on hand to inform employers of the vast array of stop smoking initiatives that are in place to support them as employers to give staff the helping hand they need to lead healthier lives.
Employers will also be offered the chance to take part in NHSGGC’s annual Quit and Win campaign which begins on “No Smoking Day” March 13 and runs for twelve weeks.
It is open to all workplaces in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area and every four weeks a prize draw is held for people taking part that have remained smoke free.
Weekly support emails and text messages are sent to participants along with support resources and advice.
This campaign can help workplaces to improve the health of their employees and support those registered in their journey through the Healthy Working Lives Award programme.
Maria Osuji, NHSGGC Health Improvement Practitioner, said: “For employers keen to support their staff to give up smoking and lead a healthier life this event is a must.
“We will discuss how employers can get involved in No Smoking Day, how they can organise health information activities, how they can access free workplace smoking cessation sessions as well as other free services available for workplaces such as support to develop written tobacco policy.”
The free event will be held on Wednesday 16th January 2013, at the Skills Academy, 99 Norfolk Street, Glasgow, G5 9LQ between 9:30am and 12:00pm.
