Top DJ George Bowie was the very special guest at a charity fundraising Christmas Fayre held on the Gartnavel Hospitals’ Campus today.

The Radio Clyde joker was supporting the fayre, organised by NHSGGC’s Public Health Pharmacy team, because all of the money raised is going towards the station’s well-established “Cash for Kids” annual appeal.

Karen Carberry, from the pharmacy team, said: “We decided on cash for kids because it’s a popular charity and we wanted to play our part to help them support projects which help vulnerable children and their families.”

A total of 28 stalls took part with gifts ranging from crafts, greeting cards and homebaking, plus staff can enjoy mini-makeovers from nail technicians, image consultants, and make-up artists.

George said “I am delighted to be invited to take part in this fantastic fundraising event for Glasgow and the west’s favourite children’s charity.

“We greatly appreciate all of the hard work Karen Carberry and the team at the Royal Gartnavel Hospital have undertaken to generate much needed funds for Cash for Kids.”

An added incentive to encourage staff to come along was one of the pharmacy team is trained in massage and agreed to do some including offering the relaxation therapy to the VIP guest.

Lesley Allan, Grants Officer for Radio Clyde Cash for Kids, thanked the pharmacy team for choosing the charity.

She said: “The Radio Clyde Cash for Kids charity is now in its 31st year and raises funds to benefit the most vulnerable children in local communities across Glasgow and the west of Scotland.”
