Two new midwives have joined the IRH Community Maternity Unit (CMU) team and both have made major life-changing moves to be part of the unit.
Lyndsay Callaghan has joined the team having been working in Northern Ireland for a number of years and Laura Smith has moved up from Leeds.
Both have settled in Inverclyde.
Both midwives were attracted to the CMU because of its unique 'low intervention' ethos of midwife led care.
Victoria Mazzoni, Lead Midwife at the Unit, said: "We are absolutely delighted that Lyndsay and Laura have joined us. They have already settled in really well and are very popular with our mums to be.
“I'm particularly pleased that both were attracted to work with us because of midwife led approach to caring for women."
The unit is also hosting an open day on Saturday 25th September from 10am to 12noon and from 2pm to 4pm. Midwives who work in the unit alongside mums who have delivered at the unit will be available to discuss how the unit works and show interested visitors around.
Victoria Mazzoni, said: "Anyone with an interest in the Unit is invited to attend - mums, dads, grandparents, aunties or anyone within our local community who wishes to learn more about what we offer. There will be a free raffle, tea and coffee and lots of information."
