Mums, Dads and babies will demonstrate that breastfeeding really is a family affair at a special event being held at Dumbarton Library on Thursday (May 21).

Health visitors from West Dunbartonshire Community Health Partnership (CHP) have organised a “Celebration of Breastfeeding” event at the library between 12 noon and 1pm and information leaflets and refreshments will also be available.

Health Visitor Cindy Murray said: “We have invited local parents and their children, who are, or have been, breastfeeding to come along and share experiences.

“The aim is to promote and encourage breastfeeding locally and improve health outcomes for both infant and mother and raise awareness of the benefits to the wider family.”

Meanwhile thanks to an agreement with West Dunbartonshire Council, Infant massage sessions are held every Thursday in the library between 11-11.30 am with a breastfeeding drop-in group following from 11.30 am to 12.15pm, led by midwives and local health visitors.
